School Dance Policies

The school or venue will provide the following on behalf of the disc jockey: parking for our vehicle and utility trailer, space for setup near electricity, one table at least six feet in length, and one chair.

We have a strict “no dirty lyrics” policy. This means we do not knowingly include music that contains explicit lyrics. We use clean radio edits, but we cannot control students from “filling in the blanks”. We do not play requests that we feel are inappropriate for the age group or evening.

We do not play unsolicited music. For instance, we will not play anything handed to us by students because we have no assurance that it does not contain explicit lyrics.

We will stop the music immediately if a disruption in the crowd develops. This includes fights, throwing objects, “mosh pits”, or any disruption that we feel is unsafe for the students.

We accept requests and try to fill them if they are appropriate. We fill requests in the order that we take them. At some point in the evening, we will no longer be able to accept requests due to lack of time.

We try not to repeat songs just because someone arrived late and it was their favorite. If we can repeat the song later in the evening, we try to accommodate.

We do not allow anyone to give a “shout out” to the crowd using our microphone because: (1) we cannot control what a student might say and (2) screaming may cause potential damage to the microphone.

We do not allow private businesses and other individuals not associated with the school system to promote their products and services to the students using our microphone and audio system. The exception to this extends only to the vendors who are providing service for the school dance who need to make a logistical announcement.
